Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers is delighted to win a trophy in the colours of Celtic just three months after leaving Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur, speaking to talkSPORT (20 December, 12pm).

In the space of a few weeks, Carter-Vickers has picked up more silverware at his new club than Spurs have in over a decade.

Yes, Celtic face a lot less competition north of the border than Tottenham do in the south but the point still stands.

With a League Cup winner’s medal hanging around his neck, one would imagine that the 23-year-old has few regrets about his decision to leave North London behind after just five first-team appearances in Tottenham colours.

Will Cameron Carter-Vickers be Celtic’s record signing?

Celtic must pay a club-record fee of £10 million if they want to exercise the option-to-buy clause in Carter-Vickers’ contract (Daily Record).

But performances like Sunday’s at Hampden Park, as Kyogo Furuhashi fired Celtic to League Cup glory over Hibernian, will do his hopes of a full-time deal no harm at all.

“It was amazing,” said Carter-Vickers.

“The atmosphere in the semi-final as the best I’ve seen. And yesterday probably topped it. (The fans) really got behind the team and that really helped us.

“Up here, (the atmosphere) is generally top. You feel them right behind you for 90 minutes, whether that’s a league game, a cup game or a European game.”

Will Tottenham win a trophy this season?

Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool – a result which flattered the visitors rather than their wasteful hosts – felt like a big step forward for Antonio Conte’s Tottenham.

It remains to be seen whether the Italian can emulate the remarkable transformation Ange Postecoglou has overseen at Celtic, however.

“We want to play the same football (Postecoglou) wants to pay,” Carter-Vickers says of one of the most underrated tacticians in the modern game, a man who’s talents are finally being appreciated in the West.

“That’s good, it makes it easier for him I’d say.

“It’s still part of a long process, there’s still a lot more to come. I think we’ll improve. 100 per cent (I get on well with Postecoglou).

“He’s a great guy. He looks after all the players, from the ones who are playing every week to the ones that aren’t.

“We really feel like he’s working to get the best out of us.”
