Adam Forshaw has admitted to BBC Sport (23/02, 21:53) that Leeds United losing 6-0 away to Liverpool on Wednesday night has left the midfielder with an ‘end of the world’ feeling.

The Reds ran riot to thrash Marcelo Bielsa’s men on Merseyside as Jurgen Klopp’s side fight for the Premier League title. They now only trail Manchester City by three-points and have the superior goal difference. Liverpool have scored a league-high 70 over 26 games.

Leeds, on the other hand, are on the cusp of the relegation fight after a 12th defeat in 25 games. They sit just three-points clear of the drop zone after 18th-place Burnley stunned Tottenham Hotspur to win 1-0 on Wednesday. The Clarets also have two games in hand.

Likewise, Everton in 16th and Newcastle United in 17th have two and one games in hand over 15th-place Leeds respectively. But the Whites also have one in hand over Brentford, who sit a point better off in 14th. Watford in 19th are on even games five-points behind.

Leeds have spent much of the season looking over their shoulder at the threat of relegation from the Premier League. Bielsa has also had to manage most of the season without a raft of key players through injuries. Effectively fighting the drop with one hand behind his back.

Patrick Bamford has only played 22-minutes for the Elland Road natives since September. His absence at Anfield also saw Dan James start at striker. While Bielsa was also without Robin Koch, plus Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper who could return to action in early March.

But a 6-0 defeat at Liverpool and the threat of relegation looming large has left Leeds star Forshaw with an uncomfortable feeling. He also raises the point of their host of injuries.

“It is difficult coming to a place like this, but we are missing big players,” Forshaw said. “We have missed them through the season. Tonight feels like the end of the world, but we are still in an okay position. We can’t feel sorry for ourselves.”
