Adam Forshaw has told media after Wednesday night’s demoralising 6-0 defeat to Liverpool that the one positive for Leeds was the club’s fans. Jurgen Klopp’s side tore Leeds apart at Anfield, in a crucial win for the Reds.
Coming into the match, the evening clash was important for both sides for different reasons. Leeds needed a win to end a run of four without picking up three points, while Liverpool could reduce the gap to just three points.
They did just that. Mo Salah and Sadio Mane both scored twice, while centre-backs Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk also got their names on the score sheet. Liverpool’s superb form continues, while Leeds are in despair.
If any Leeds player deserved credit on the night, it was probably midfielder Forshaw – who continued to run his socks off until the full-time whistle. He spoke bravely after the match, naming the Leeds fans as the only positive.
“It is hard not to let it affect you, I won’t lie but the positives were the fans, they make you proud and that is what we can take from tonight, they are always there for us,” Forshaw said, as per BBC Sport.
Forshaw on Leeds fans: Are they beginning to lose patience?
Bielsa has taken Leeds from being a mid-table Championship side, to ninth in the Premier League last season – with largely the same group of players. It has earned him legendary status at Leeds, but patience is wearing thin.
Fans are beginning to grow tired of the Argentine’s stubbornness to his tactics, a lack of plan A. They are becoming fed up of their team lacking any kind of defensive knowledge, completely out of their depth in the top tier.
Is Bielsa running out of time at Leeds? No. But it might be that come the end of the season, Bielsa will leave. It seems like it is the beginning of the end, especially after Wednesday night’s humiliating loss to Liverpool.
