Thierry Henry has claimed that Arsenal target, Raheem Sterling, has ‘improved a lot’, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (15/02/22 at 7:45 pm).
The Arsenal legend spoke about Sterling’s game at Manchester City and how he now ‘understands movement’.
Working alongside Pep Guardiola for all those years, including Mikel Arteta prior to his departure to Arsenal, it shouldn’t be surprising that Sterling has turned into a goalscoring machine.
This season, Sterling has scored 13 goals in all competitions, including a hat-trick against Norwich City over the weekend.
During his Premier League career, the 27-year-old is on 106 goals and there isn’t any sign that his numbers will stop because he may well hit 200+ by the time he’s finished.
Nonetheless, this is what Henry had to say about the much-changed forward, who is seemingly on Arsenal’s radar.
“I remember him playing for Liverpool and he couldn’t hit the target,” said Henry. “When he was carrying the ball, he was never in control of the ball.
“Now, the name of the game is about being efficient. He understands movement. He doesn’t move too much. He knows exactly what he is going to do.
“That’s how he is maturing right now. He understands the game and understands space. That’s why he has improved a lot.”

Despite Sterling’s success in Man City colours, the Daily Star claim that the Premier League champions are ‘reluctantly’ listening to offers for their goalscoring winger.
The Euro 2020 finalist has 18-months remaining on his current deal – and given that he is at the peak of his powers – he is yet to sign a new deal.
Despite their current situation, and the fact that they may not make the Champions League, Arteta is keen to bring Sterling to the Emirates.
It’s some level of ambition from the north London club, who would cause quite the shock if they manage to lure the Englishman towards their direction.
