Arsenal could face a huge problem in tying Bukayo Saka down to a new contract if the club once again fail to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

According to the Daily Mail, much of the Gunners’ business this summer relies on if Arsenal finish in the top-four, something the north London side haven’t done in six years and could well miss out on again this campaign.

As per the report, Arsenal want to make Saka one of the highest-earning players at the club, yet signing him to a new contract will be hard if Mikel Arteta’s side miss out on Champions League football.

To make matters worse, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and Manchester United are said to be interested in Saka, who has established himself as one of the world’s best young talents as well as a star for the England national team.

With Saka’s current contract expiring in 2024, Arsenal will need to make a decision soon on the 20-year-old winger, who has been one of Arteta’s key players this season and is viewed as a vital member of the first-team.

A boyhood Arsenal fan who has been at the club since the age of seven, Saka has already made over 100 appearances for the Gunners and has this season been in great form, with the winger bagging seven goals and four assists in all competitions.

Saka contract update has just cranked up the pressure for Arsenal

Top-four was seen as a distant dream at the start of the season for Arsenal, yet as things stand, the north London side have a genuine shot of qualifying for the Champions League if they can keep their nerve together and injuries are kind to them.

However, Saka’s latest contract update has made matters worse for the north London club. Whilst Arsenal have improved this season, they are still a team who crack easily under pressure, and this news on their star winger could make a massive difference in the remaining 17 games of the campaign.
