Italian journalist Niccolo Ceccarini has said that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are “strongly interested” in signing Alvaro Morata from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2022, as quoted in AreaNapoli.

The well-known and well-respected journalist has claimed that Juventus are not willing to sign Morata on a permanent deal at the end of the season.

The former Real Madrid and Chelsea striker is on loan at Juve from defending Spanish champions Atletico at the moment.

AreaNapoli quotes Ceccarini as saying: “Juventus are not willing to redeem him for €35m (£29.51m) and therefore in all likelihood he will return to Atletico Madrid.

“A new future in the Premier League is possible for him. Arsenal are strongly interested.”

Could Alvaro Morata move to Arsenal?

In our view, Arsenal could be able to sign Morata from Atletico in the summer of 2022.

Juventus signed Dusan Vlahovic – a striker chased all January by Arsenal – last month, and we can understand why they are now not willing to make Morata’s loan deal permanent.

The 29-year-old Spain international striker has scored five goals and provided four assists in 17 Serie A starts for Juventus so far this season.

Well-known and well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano reported on his YouTube channel last week that Arsenal were willing to send Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Juventus so that they could bring Alvaro Morata to the Emirates stadium.

That plan did not work, as the striker moved to Barcelona on a free transfer.

Now, with the Gunners not having replaced Aubameyang in the January transfer window, they will need a new striker in the summer of 2022, maybe even two.

After all, both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are out of contract at Arsenal at the end of the season.

So, in our opinion, Morata, 29, could be an option for Arsenal.
