Arsenal’s January transfer window was engulfed by the chase for one player, Dusan Vlahovic, who ultimately signed for Juventus.

The Serbian international has been one of the best strikers in Europe this season, and the Daily Mail report that the Gunners’ technical director Edu Gaspar was keen to sign the 21-year-old attacker.

However, it wasn’t to be as Vlahovic signed for Juventus for a reported £67m according to the Daily Mail. And to make matters worse for Arsenal, the youngster scored just 13 minutes into his debut with the Serie A side.

The former ACF Fiorentina star was thrown straight into the starting XI as Juventus hosted Hella Verona in Turin on Sunday, and it didn’t take long for Vlahovic to open the scoring for the Old Lady.

The attacker bagged his first-ever goal for Juventus, bringing his overall Serie A tally for the season up to a staggering 18 in 22 appearances, with fellow January arrival Denis Zakaria also scoring on his debut for Massimiliano Allegri’s side.

With Arsenal failing to sign a striker in January, Vlahovic’s goal for Juventus was further salt in the wounds for the club, who were desperate to bring in the Balkan superstar this January.

Vlahovic will come to haunt Arsenal this season with Juventus

It is night and day that Arsenal needed to sign a striker this January, and Vlahovic’s heroics on his debut for Juventus will only come to haunt the north London side for the remainder of the season.

Indeed, it isn’t too far to suggest that the Serbian could have fired Arsenal to top-four in the Premier League. Yet with Vlahovic instead joining Juventus, the Gunners can only watch from a distance as the 21-year-old continues to fire in goals in Italy’s top-flight.
