Bayer Leverkusen had a private jet chartered to fly Tanguy Ndombele to Germany on deadline day before Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League misfit returned to Lyon, as reported by FootMercato.
Perhaps Spurs could do with a streetwise streak a la Leverkusen.
Tottenham were pipped to the post by not only Liverpool but also Barcelona in the final few days of the winter window. They lost out on both Luis Diaz and Adama Traore at the eleventh hour.
It seems that Bayer Leverkusen were keen to show that they, too, would not allow a golden opportunity pass them by as Monday’s 11pm deadline zoomed into view.
According to reports coming out of France today, the Bundesliga high-flyers had a private jet ready and waiting to bring Ndombele to the Bay Arena, in the off-chance that his return to Lyon fell through at the last second.

In the end, Lyon had nothing to worry about.
That’s despite the fact that PSG are six places and nearly 20 points ahead of Peter Bosz’s underperforming side in the Ligue 1 table.
Can Tottenham misfit Tanguy Ndombele be reborn at Lyon?
Clearly, after two years on the fringes at Tottenham, Ndombele knows what’s good for him.
Regular first-team football, week-in, week-out at a club who love and trust him, while showing a willingness to take the maddening rough with the mercurial smooth, feels like exactly what the doctor ordered.
What’s more, Ndombele requested that an option-to-buy clause be included in his Lyon contract.
It’s highly unlikely the 2020 Champions League semi-finalists will stump up the £50 million Tottenham want.
But either way, the fact that Ndombele was behind the inclusion of a purchase clause this does not exactly paint the picture of a man planning to return to North London at the end of his short-term loan spell.
