Fabrizio Romano has said on Twitter that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal do not plan to let Eddie Nketiah leave amid interest from Newcastle United.
The well-known and well-respected journalist has reported that Arsenal have decided to keep Nketiah for the rest of the season.
The 22-year-old striker is out of contract at Arsenal at the end of the season.
However, according to Romano, Arsenal manager Arteta has decided that he will keep the former Leeds United loanee in his squad.
Earlier on January transfer deadline day, The Times reported that Newcastle want to sign Nketiah.
The report added that the 22-year-old striker himself is keen on a move to Eddie Howe’s side, having become frustrated at his lack of chances at Arsenal.

Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah decision makes sense
In our view, it makes sense that Arsenal do not want to let Nketiah leave now.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is reportedly on his way to Barcelona, and if the Gunners do not bring in a replacement and let Nketiah go, then they will leave themselves short of a senior striker.
So, in our opinion, Arsenal should keep hold of the former Leeds United loanee.
