According to Le10Sport, West Ham United have now made a €25m (£21m) bid for Reims striker Hugo Ekitike.
Ekitike is a player that has been of interest to a number of clubs during this transfer window. Tottenham and Newcastle have both also been linked, and it’s not hard to understand why so many English clubs are in for this young star.
The 19-year-old has been on fire in Ligue 1 this term. He’s banged in eight goals in just 18 league appearances this term, and at the age of 19, he has so much room to grow.
The striker has been described as a ‘very special’ player in the past, and He’s even been compared to Kylian Mbappe, so that just goes to show how highly-regarded this young man truly is.
This is West Ham’s second bid for Ekitike this month, but it still may not be enough to land him. After all, it has been reported in the past that his asking price is £30m.
West Ham could certainly do with a new striker through the door this month. Michail Antonio is currently their only recognised senior number nine, and even he says that the Hammers could do with a new centre-forward.
Luckily, it seems as though the London club are keen to get this deal done, and we could see some progress on this front in the coming days.
