Bologna are backing manager Sinisa Mihajlovic after £7 million Rangers target Andreas Skov Olsen was dropped by the Serie A outfit, general director Claudio Fenucci tells Tuttomercatoweb

Skov Olsen is just one of a number of talented wideman who have been linked with a move to Ibrox over the last couple of weeks.

If reports are to be believed, AZ Alkmaar’s Albert Gudmundsson, Crystal Palace’s Jesurun Rak-Sayki and Galatasaray’s Olimpiu Morutan are also on Rangers’ wishlist.

And one would assume, after Ianis Hagi suffered a season-ending injury in Friday’s 4-0 victory over Stirling Albion, that the pursuit of attacking reinforcements will be amped up with a week of the transfer window remaining.

Skov Olsen, Bologna’s twinkle-toed Denmark international, should be the most expensive of the lot.

Rangers have already failed with a £5 million bid for the former Nordsjaelland talisman.

According to The Athletic, however, Bologna value Skov Olsen closer to £7 million. A fee that would make the 22-year-old their most expensive acquisition since Ryan Kent joined from Liverpool.

Will Andreas Skov Olsen replace Ianis Hagi at Rangers?

The tough-talking Mihajlovic left Skov Olsen at home for Bologna’s 2-1 victory over Hellas Verona last time out, along with full-back Mitchell Dijks.

Skov Olsen, he tells La Repubblica, is now free to leave before the February 1 deadline.

“We can only give support to the coach,” Fenucci says when asked about the futures of Skov Olsen and Dijks.

Reading between the lines, however, it seems that the Bologna director is hoping for a happy ending as an unseemly saga threatens to end in a messy divorce.

“Skov’s situation is more complicated,” Fenucci adds. “Because he is one of the most talented players we have in the squad.

“And, for this reason, the situation is different from that of Mitchell who is still a very good professional. For me, we can stay (together). But it is clear that the final decisions are up to the manager.”

Skov Olsen has struggled for form in Italy. The man himself admits as much. But his record in Danish football – 22 goals in the 2018/19 season – should not be underestimated.

Rangers legend Brain Laudrup certainly thinks Skov Olsen is capable of taking Scotland by storm.
