Giovanni Carnevali has told Sport Mediaset that Sassuolo are fortunate Gianluca Scamacca is sought after among a number of clubs, amid reported transfer interest from Arsenal.

The Neroverdi Chairman is thrilled the forward is establishing a wide market across Europe with his form under Alessio Dionisi. Scamacca has scored nine goals in 21 Serie A outings so far this season. He has also hit decisive efforts against title-chasers AC Milan and Napoli.

Scamacca drew the Mapei Stadium side level at the San Siro as they came from behind to win in November. He then hit Sassuolo’s first to draw with Napoli after trailing 2-0 at home.

Only five players across the Italian top-flight have outscored Scamacca so far this term. He also accounts for 24% of the Neroverdi’s 38 goals to sit 12-points from the relegation zone.

The two-cap Italy international – who debuted under Roberto Mancini in September – also now has a wealth of admirers. FC Inter News report Arsenal are tracking Scamacca’s form in view of a potential future transfer for the Sassuolo star.

Newcastle United have also lodged an enquiry, while Juventus and particularly Inter Milan in Italy are attentive to his rise. But the Nerazzurri refuse to offer more than €25m (£21m) in cash. So, would look to meet Carnevali’s €40m (£33m) valuation through part-exchange.

Sassuolo chief Carnevali thrilled ‘many clubs’ want Arsenal target Scamacca

Multiple clubs, including Arsenal, eying Scamacca and considering transfers thrills Sassuolo chief Carnevali. The fact that clubs outside of Serie A are monitoring his efforts brings the Neroverdi Chairman the most delight, too.

“We are fortunate that the player is followed by many clubs,” Carnevali said. “There have been no official offers. The nice thing is that there are also foreign clubs, because Italian football is very restricted.”

Scamacca is under contract at Sassuolo until 2025, so Arsenal would have to pay Carnevali’s valuation for a transfer. The Mapei Stadium chief is unlikely to accept any discounts given the interest emerging from around Europe.

The forward has also scored nine Serie A goals in 21 games, but has only started 11 of his appearances. Boss Dionisi only promoted the forward to a more integral role in November.
