Juventus have reportedly made a loan offer for Olympique Lyonnais midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, who Arsenal are eager to sign this month.
According to Goal, the European giants are eager to sign the Brazilian with Juventus submitting a loan offer for Guimaraes. However, Lyon turned down the proposal and will only accept a deal that includes an obligation to sign for €45m (£37m).
As reported by Football London, Arsenal are also on Guimaraes’ tail, with the north London side interested in signing the Ligue 1 star this month. Mikel Arteta is eager to sign a central midfielder with Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny away at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Guimaraes will unlikely move this window given the fee Lyon are demanding for the midfielder, however, Juventus’ interest in the South American could complicate matters for Arsenal.
Indeed, whilst both sides are not guaranteed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League for next season, there’s no question that Juventus have the pulling power to sign Guimaraes over Arsenal this year.
The Italian side, though poorly run, could be back to competing for Serie A titles next season if they play their cards right in the market. And for Guimaraes, Juventus could be the perfect next step despite interest from Arsenal.
Arsenal have to ensure they beat Juventus to Guimaraes

After a stellar performance against PSG over the weekend, Guimaraes is firmly on the radar of many European clubs, with Juventus now keen to sign the Brazilian. Yet for Arsenal, they have to make sure they are the ones who win the race for the midfielder.
The position needs upgrading and depth, and Guimaraes, who has starred for Lyon this season, could be the perfect player for Arsenal if they can beat Juventus to the 24-year-old.
