Newcastle United believe that they are close to signing Hugo Ekitike, who is on the radar of West Ham United as well, according to 90min.
90min have reported today that Newcastle are in advanced talks with Reims for Ekitike and have made a bid of £30 million.
West Ham United have made a loan enquiry, while Brentford and Brighton and Hove Albion have made bids for a permanent deal.
However, Newcastle reportedly ‘believe they are close to finalising an agreement to take the teenager to St. James’ Park’.
90min have added that Ekitike himself is keen on the move to Newcastle in the January transfer window.

Hugo Ekitike to join Newcastle, not West Ham
In our view, Newcastle need Ekitike more than West Ham for the short term.
Michail Antonio is doing well for the Hammers at the moment, while Newcastle striker Callum Wilson is out injured now.
The Magpies need to bring in a recognised striker soon, and Ekitike would get the chance to play for Eddie Howe’s side immediately.
However, the 19-year-old Reims striker needs to keep in mind that there is a good chance that Newcastle could get relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
West Ham are in the running for the Premier League top four and are also in the Europa League at the moment.
