Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s Rangers have to pay £2 million to bring Danilho Doekhi to Ibrox, according to The Daily Record.

The report has claimed that Rangers want to sign Doekhi from Vitesse Arnhem in the January transfer window.

Rangers see the 23-year-old central defender as a potential replacement for Connor Goldson, who is out of contract at the Gers at the end of the season.

The report has claimed that Vitesse want £2 million for their captain now, adding that the Dutchman is ‘keen to stay at the Eredivisie club until the summer before making a decision on his future’.

PSV also want Doekhi, according to The Daily Record, who have described him as a ‘towering centre-back’ because of his 6 ft 3 in height.

What should Rangers do about Danilho Doekhi?

In our view, Rangers should pay the £2 million transfer fee needed to sign Doekhi in the January transfer window.

If the Gers wait until the summer, then they are likely to face stiff competition from a number of clubs.

After all, the youngster will become a free agent at the end of the season, and that will be appealing to a number of clubs.

Now, Doekhi himself may not be willing to switch clubs right now, but Rangers should at least try to change his mind.
