West Ham United are looking to bring Abdou Diallo to the Premier League from Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain in the January transfer window, as reported by L’Equipe.
Only a few weeks ago, the prospect of West Ham ‘doing a Leicester’ was starting to become a genuine discussion in punditry circles.
An unfortunate spate of injuries have put pay to that, however, even if The Hammers are still well-placed to secure a Champions League berth with just four months of the season remaining.
At present, David Moyes has just two senior centre-halves at his disposal after Kurt Zouma joined long-term absentee Angelo Ogbonna on the treatment table.
The recent absence of Aaron Cresswell, meanwhile, deprived West Ham of their first-choice left-back and one of their most consistent creative threats.
Moyes confirmed a few days ago, via The Mail, that he is planning to bring in defensive reinforcements during the January window, with the likes of James Tarkowski and Nathan Ake reported to be on the Scot’s radar.

Diallo, however, would kill two birds with one stone; a centre-half and a left-back rolled into one.
The 26-year-old Senegal international, who joined Paris Saint-Germain a £26 million deal from Borussia Dortmund, is equally comfortable in the middle or on the flank.
Despite his versatility, first-team opportunities have been hard to come by at the Parc des Princes this season, especially after PSG snapped up one of the planet’s most exciting young full-backs – Nuno Mendes.
Diallo, who was a key target for current Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel at PSG, has also been linked with a move to nouveau-riche Newcastle, though it remains uncertain whether he would swap a Champions League challenge for a relegation battle on the other side of the Channel.
Diallo has featured in just four of PSG’s last 14 Ligue 1 games.
