Fabrizio Romano has claimed on Twitter that Kieran Trippier is on the verge of signing for Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United.

The well-known and well-respected journalist has claimed that there is no problem whatsoever regarding the transfer of Trippier from Atletico Madrid to Newcastle.

Romano has reported that all paperworks have been completed, and that both Atletico and Newcastle will announce the transfer of the 31-year-old England international right-back soon.

Kieran Trippier to Newcastle happening?

Trippier was caught on camera at Newcastle earlier this week, but no official announcement has been made yet.

So, we can understand why some Newcastle fans would be a bit worried.

However, Romano’s information suggests that the St. James’ Park faithful need not worry at all.

It seems that it is only a matter of time before the former Tottenham Hotspur right-back becomes a Newcastle player.

Sky Sports are also reporting that Newcastle hope to announce the signing of Trippier today (Friday).

The Magpies will reportedly pay defending La Liga champions Atletico Madrid £12 million in transfer fees for the right-back.

Sky Sports have reported that Trippier has already undergone a medical and will sign a two-and-a-half-year contract with the option of a further year.
