Tottenham Hotspur head coach Antonio Conte has told Football.London that Ryan Sessegnon is almost ready to return to action for Spurs.

Spurs will take on Chelsea in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening.

Tottenham will then face Morecambe in the FA Cup on Sunday.

Conte has said that left-back Sessegnon, who cost Spurs £25 million in the summer of 2019 (BBC Sport), will be available for the match against Morecambe.

Antonio Conte on Ryan Sessegnon injury update

Conte told Football.London: “Ryan Sessegnon’s situation is better than Steven Bergwijn’s. I think he’s almost ready to be available in the next game, in the FA Cup he’ll be available.”

Positive news

In our view, it is really positive news for Tottenham and Sessegnon.

Sessegnon has had injury problems during his time at Spurs, and we have yet to see the best of the former Fulham youngster at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

When he has played under Conte, the 21-year-old, who can also operate as a left-back, has done well and has been praised by the Spurs boss.

Conte recently commented on the need for his wing-backs to be more attacking and being effective.

Sessegnon will be determined to do the things that Conte wants him to do when he is back.

Conte has been at Spurs for only a few weeks, and there is still time for Sessegnon to impress the former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss and establish himself in the starting lineup.
