Tottenham Hotspur head coach Antonio Conte has told Football.London that he wants Ryan Sessegnon to do better than he did against Norwich City.
Conte has said that he was pleased with Sessegnon’s performance for Tottenham in the Premier League game against Norwich on Sunday.
The 21-year-old, who can play as a left-back, left-winger or left wing-back, came on as a substitute midway through the first half.
Sessegnon, who cost Spurs £25 million in the summer of 2019 (BBC Sport), replaced the injured Sergio Reguilon.
Tottenham won 3-0.
Antonio Conte on Ryan Sessegnon
Conte told Football.London about Sessegnon: “I’m sure that he can do much better and he has quality. He has quality as a player with great power, he’s strong physically and he needs to take confidence.
“He needs to take confidence from the atmosphere and the stadium. Sess is a young player but if you stay in the Tottenham squad it means that you deserve to be here and you have to deserve this. He played a good game but he has to improve, like the other players.
“Today, at the end, I’m pleased because I’ve seen him for 75 minutes and he played a good game, but I know he can do much better. He has the quality physically and technically.”

Good man-management
Conte knows more than most what Sessegnon is capable of doing.
After all, the former Chelsea and Inter Milan manager sees the 21-year-old in training on a daily basis.
In our opinion, it is very good man-management from Conte.
Yes, the Tottenham head coach praises Sessegnon in public, but at the same time he makes it clear that he wants to see improvement from him.
Now it is up to Sessegnon to rise up to the challenge.
We think that the former Fulham youngster will now kick on and become a really important player for Spurs.
