Jamie Carragher has said on Sky Sports Premier League (1:06pm, January 2, 2021) that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool need to win against Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea today in order to reclaim the Premier League title from Manchester City.

The Sky Sports pundit believes that if the game between Chelsea and Liverpool ends in a draw today, then Manchester City are likely to win the title.

The former Liverpool defender has said that for City to stay under pressure, either Chelsea or Jurgen Klopp’s side will have to win today.

Chelsea will take on Liverpool at Stamford Bridge in London in the Premier League on Sunday.

Manchester City are at the top of the league table at the moment with 53 points from 21 matches.

Chelsea are second with 42 points from 20 matches, a point ahead of third-placed Liverpool, who have played 19 games.

Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City title race

Carragher said on Sky Sports Premier League (1:06pm, January 2, 2021): “If someone loses today, then they have no chance of winning the league. No chance. “

The Sky Sports pundit added: “I think if it’s a draw, it’s virtually impossible for both. I think one of the team has to win today. That will give them a fighting chance.”

Big game at Stamford Bridge

In our opinion, the match between Chelsea and Liverpool will be massive for the Premier League title race.

We do not think that City are complacent.

After all, it is only the beginning of January.

However, a draw this afternoon will give Pep Guardiola’s side a clear advantage.

Chelsea will be without star striker Romelu Lukaku for the match today, and that could help Liverpool.
