Marseille defender Duje Caleta-Car is dreaming of a move to the Premier League amid links to both Newcastle United and West Ham United.

Newcastle and West Ham chase Caleta-Car

Croatian defender Caleta-Car has been linked with a move to the Premier League for some time now.

Having been praised for his ‘impressive pace’, that’s no surprise.

Liverpool famously had a deal set up in February of this year, but that fell through at the last minute.

The Telegraph now claim that West Ham retain an interest in Caleta-Car having targeted him in the past.

Newcastle are now thought to have joined the race too, with Eddie Howe desperate for defensive additions.

Howe is close with Michael Edwards, the Liverpool sporting director who targeted Caleta-Car earlier this year, which could be a factor.

Foot Mercato claim that Marseille star Caleta-Car is now dreaming of a Premier League transfer.

Despite being offered to Italian club Napoli, Caleta-Car has his sights set firmly on a move to England.

Newcastle and West Ham do figure to be the top two options for Caleta-Car in January; Liverpool just don’t need him now.

Newcastle need to completely revamp their backline, but their relegation battle means tempting Caleta-Car could be difficult.

West Ham have seen both Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna pick up injuries of late, and their hopes of a top four finish mean they may be more tempting to Caleta-Car than Newcastle.
