Besiktas have opened negotiations with Everton over a potential half-season loan transfer for striker Cenk Tosun to return to the Super Lig giants during January, according to Sabah.
The Istanbul side have endured a torrid campaign so far this term, which led to the sacking of Sergen Yalcin. Besiktas fired the 49-year-old at the start of December after losing 11 of their 20 fixtures this season. They also lost 10 of his last 13 at the helm in all competitions.
The Vodafone Park hierarchy are still seeking a new head coach, but have also turned their attention to possible transfers. Besiktas accept they will have to afford their next manager reinforcements to turn their season around, with the club only ninth in the Super Lig table.

Besiktas also entered their winter break trailing league-leaders Trabzonspor by a whopping 18-points after 19 games. They are behind second-placed Konyaspor by 11-points, as well.
Tosun to solve Besiktas crisis with latest return?
Besiktas believe Everton striker Tosun can help solve their offensive crisis with a return in the January transfer window. The Turkey striker moved to Goodison Park from the Black Eagles for £27m under Sam Allardyce in January 2018.
Tosun also returned to Vodafone Park in January 2021 on loan, but his spell in Istanbul only lasted three-months. The 30-year-old required season-ending surgery after he ruptured his patella tendon and only returned to fitness in November.

Everton boss Rafa Benitez has so far only fielded Tosun for six-minutes since he returned for selection last month. He has also left the forward on the bench five times altogether.
As Tosun’s £100k-a-week contract also expires in the summer, he now faces a bleak future on Merseyside. A situation that Besiktas will look to capitalise on in talks with Everton.
Besiktas President Ahmet Nur Cebi considers the door always open for Tosun to transfer back from Everton. He is now debating a loan deal with the Toffees with no fee attached to keep the costs down, before sitting down with Tosun in the summer over a longer contract.
Tosun had planned to see out his contract with Everton, but now accepts a move away in January will be important amid his lack of game time under Benitez and Besiktas’ interest.
Cebi has long been a big advocate of Tosun’s ability, as well. He described him to TRT Spor, via quotes by NTV Spor, last year as a ‘special’ type of player. One he may now sign again.
