Hugo Lloris could leave Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the season as the goalkeeper is open to joining Nice on a free transfer once his contract ends, according to Foot Mercato.

The Frenchman has just six-months remaining on his current deal in north London and talks over new terms are unsatisfactory. Spurs would like Lloris to remain at the Premier League side into an 11th season, with the 35-year-old remaining their first-choice so far this term.

Lloris has opened all 17 of Tottenham’s top-flight fixtures and has kept seven clean sheets to 20 goals conceded. Only Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale has kept more clean sheets in fewer games with nine in 16 appearances. He has one less than Ederson (10) of Manchester City.

Tottenham are working to extend Lloris’ £100k-a-week contract signed in 2016, four-years after joining from Lyon for £13m. But the north Londoners’ efforts to date are yet to come off, despite football.london reporting Antonio Conte has urged the shot-stopper to stay.

Conte is pushing Tottenham to retain Lloris, as the Italian took an instant liking to him and rates him highly. The Spurs boss has also made his feelings clear to figures within the club.

Lloris open to free Nice transfer after Tottenham contract expires

Yet despite Conte’s desires, Lloris is considering a future away from Tottenham given his expiring contract. And the goalkeeper is open to a return to Ligue 1 when his deal ends.

Nice are exploring a change in goal next summer with Walter Benitez possibly leaving. So, they are monitoring Lloris’ situation at Tottenham in view of a potential free transfer.

His forthcoming free agent status particularly stands out to Les Aiglons as they would not have to negotiate with Spurs. Lloris’ openness to returning to the Riviera club is also of interest to Nice. He spent 11-years with them in his youth before joining Lyon in 2008.
