Tottenham Hotspur think that Antonio Conte could now convince Hugo Lloris to stay beyond the end of his contract, Football London report.

Sticking around?

Tottenham’s number one goalkeeper has just months remaining on his current deal, which expires at the end of the season.

Lloris has not penned fresh terms yet, with the club failing to agree a new contract with him.

However, Conte is hoping to convince the World Cup winner to stick around at Tottenham and be a key player for him.

Lloris may be reaching the twilight of his career now, but he remains vital for Spurs.

His experience and quality makes him one of the finest goalkeepers in the Premier League, and he would cost millions to replace.

Conte has reportedly already decided that he would like to keep Lloris around, although that is not yet a foregone conclusion.

The club hope that the arrival of the Italian will convince Lloris that they are making progress.

Underrated?

But Spurs insiders also reportedly feel that the 34-year-old importance to the team has been underestimated previously and they now need to fight to show how important he is.

Football London claims that there is a feeling around Tottenham that his ability hasn’t always been valued highly enough.

If Lloris did put pen to paper then it would surely have to be seen as good news for Tottenham.

Spurs will eventually need to replace their most experienced player.

But for now they have far more pressing concerns.

And with Conte seemingly wanting to make wholesale changes, Spurs would be far better off spending their budget on renovating other areas of their squad, rather than having to go out and sign a goalkeeper, when they already have a quality one at the club.
