Philippe Coutinho wants to move to Arsenal from Barcelona in the January transfer window despite interest from Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Everton, according to Sport.

Sport are reporting that Arsenal, Tottenham, Everton and Newcastle all are keen on signing Coutinho from Barcelona in January.

The agents of the former Liverpool attacking midfielder want him to join a club in the Premier League.

Coutinho and his agents would prefer a move to Arsenal to other clubs.

Barcelona themselves are open to letting the Brazil international leave.

Would Philippe Coutinho make Arsenal better?

Coutinho could not live up to his £142 million price-tag (BBC Sport) at Barcelona.

But, we cannot deny that the 29-year-old, who can also operate as a winger, is a very good player who was a huge success at Liverpool.

During his spell in the Premier League before his transfer to Barcelona, Coutinho scored 41 goals in 152 appearances.

Coutinho created 52 big chances in those games.

Now, Arsenal do have two creative midfielders in Emile Smith Rowe and Martin Odegaard.

So, we have to ask whether Coutinho would get into the Arsenal team right now.

However, having a player like Coutinho as an option could not do any harm to Arsenal, especially if they sign him on loan and Barcelona subsidise his salary.
