Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp does not want to sell Newcastle United target Divock Origi in the January transfer window, according to The Athletic.

Liverpool decision on Newcastle target Divock Origi

The report has claimed that Liverpool manager Klopp is planning for the second half of the season with striker Origi in his squad.

The Liverpool boss does not want to let go of midfielder Oxlade-Chamberlain in the middle of the season either.

The Northern Echo reported in November that Newcastle want to sign Belgium international striker Origi on loan from Liverpool in the January transfer window.

We covered the report here on HITC Sport.

Blow for Newcastle United

In our view, The Athletic’s report about Origi will come as a blow for Newcastle.

The Magpies are struggling for survival at the moment, and they do need reinforcements.

Yes, Callum Wilson is a very good striker, and yes, Eddie Howe’s side’s issues are at the back.

However, Newcastle needs to score goals to escape the dreaded drop to the Championship at the end of the season.

And Origi scores goals, especially as a substitute.

So, in our opinion, if Newcastle are not able to sign the £82,000-a-week striker (Salary Sport) on loan, then it will be a blow for them.

Now, we do not think that Newcastle should make a permanent deal for Origi.

But, in our view, signing the Belgian on loan and paying his £82,000-a-week salary in full is a risk worth taking for Newcastle’s rich owners.
