Joe Cole has mocked Tottenham Hotspur on BT Sport 1 (7:11pm, December 16, 2021), saying that Spurs have not been playing since the start of the season.

The former Chelsea star made the comments about Tottenham while discussing Spurs’ situation with Jermaine Jenas.

Former Tottenham midfielder Jenas believes that Antonio Conte’s side have had a winter break due to their matches getting postponed.

Spurs last played on December 5.

Tottenham’s matches against Rennes, Brighton and Hove Albion and Leicester City have been postponed due to coronavirus issues.

Joe Cole’s brutal Tottenham Hotspur dig

Jenas said: “Tottenham have not played a game for as long as I can remember. So they have had a winter break themselves.”

Cole responded: “Tottenham have not played since the start of the season.”

Spurs are a threat

Cole is a former Chelsea player, and we know all about the rivalry between the Blues and Tottenham.

So, we can understand why Cole would take a dig at Spurs.

However, make no mistake, Tottenham are a force to be reckoned with under Conte.

Spurs should be taken as a threat now.

Under Conte, Tottenham will be challenging for the Champions League places in the Premier League table this season.

Yes, Spurs are not at the level of Chelsea now, but under Conte, they could be.

Tottenham are a rich club and have wonderful players such as Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.
