Vitaliy Mykolenko is in advanced negotiations over a move to the Premier League with Newcastle United joining Everton in the race, says Ukrainian agent Vyacheslav Zakhovailo, via UA Football.

Newcastle are reportedly closing in on a deal that will see them beat Everton to the signature of Atletico Madrid’s England international Kieran Trippier.

TalkSPORT say that a potential £150,000-a-week agreement is very nearly done and dusted.

Everton’s pursuit of a new right-back, then, looks set to go on with no end in sight.

And, unless Lucas Digne can patch up a seemingly strained relationship with Rafa Benitez, then reinforcements may be required on the opposite flank too.

It never rains but it pours at Goodison Park.

Which Premier League club will Mykolenko join?

Reports from Eastern Europe claim that Everton are closing in on the signing of Dynamo Kiev left-back Mykolenko.

With Newcastle making a move of their own for the 22-year-old, however, the men from Merseyside will not have things their own way.

“It seems that the journalists are not lying about Mykolenko,” says Zakhovailo, a Czech Republic-based agent who works as a part-time sporting director and head coach at the MSM Football Academy in Prague.

“Negotiations are at the last stage,” he adds. But in football, anything can happen. We have to wait until the club’s official statement.

“I’ll tell you the background. About twenty days ago, Czech scouts who work for the British called me.

“They asked my about (Mykolenko’s) characteristics. I told them my opinion.

“They did not tell me the name of the club (they were working for). But I know they work for Everton and Newcastle.”

Everton are reportedly paying £20 million for Mykolenko.

There are doubts about that claim, however, given that funds are in short supply at Goodison Park these days.

The same can’t be said of Newcastle. Especially now that Saudi Arabian billionaires are bankrolling their January spending.
