Premier League giants Everton are set to sign Dynamo Kiev wideman Vitaliy Mykolenko after beating Jose Mourinho’s Roma to a £20 million deal, according to Play Sport.
It the report is to be believed, a deal between Rafa Benitez’s Everton and the Ukraine international has been all-but agreed.
The Merseyside giants have allegedly fought off competition from Serie A powerhouses Roma too. The Giallorossi are in the market for a left-sided defender after losing Euro 2020 star Leonardo Spinazzola to a long-term injury.
Mourinho is a big fan of Mykolenko. And, Play Sport add, Roma were willing to pay £15 million for the Ukrainian international.
Everton’s subsequent £20 million offer appears to have blown them out of the water.
Will Mykolenko replace Lucas Digne at Everton?
It will come as little surprise to learn that a new left-back may be on Everton’s radar ahead of the January transfer window.
But there is one major problem staring us in the face.
The Toffees, remember, spent just £1.7 million during the summer of 2021.
And with FFP restrictions holding the club in a vice-like grip, Everton may need to sell before investing in new signings.

As it stands, they are no closer to finding buyers for the likes of Cenk Tosun or Tom Davies.
Some reports have suggested that Everton could cash in on Yerry Mina.
The Colombian remains by far and away their best defender, however. Everton have lost seven out of nine games without Mina this term.
The Sun also claimed that Benitez would be willing to cash in on £30 million goalkeeper Jordan Pickford in order to secure some much-needed additions in the winter window.
The Mykolenko deal, then, is one to watch out for.
