Tottenham Hotspur central defender Joe Rodon could be on his way out in January with Newcastle United now interested in a deal.

Rodon’s frustrating season at Tottenham

Signed by Jose Mourinho from Swansea City back in October 2020, Rodon initially showed real promise at Tottenham.

Unfortunately for the Welshman, he just hasn’t been able to nail down a first-team role in North London.

Nuno Espirito Santo seemingly wasn’t a fan and Antonio Conte isn’t picking him in the Premier League.

With just one Premier League appearance this season – and that was as a substitute – Rodon may need to leave Tottenham.

The 24-year-old won’t want to stall, and that could mean he leaves Tottenham in January.

Tottenham fans react to Newcastle rumour

The Daily Mail claim that Newcastle are interested in signing Rodon during the January transfer window.

Newcastle need defensive additions to stay in the Premier League and Rodon is seen as a potential signing.

Tottenham fans are now taking to Twitter, with some hoping it’s just a loan as Rodon will become a star one day.

Others simply believe that Rodon won’t make it at Spurs and should be sold in January.

A fee of £30million – almost three times what Tottenham paid – is mentioned, with fans seemingly eyeing Newcastle’s new cash.
