Tottenham Hotspur fans have reacted in a positive fashion to Antonio Conte’s comments about Hugo Lloris’ future at the club.
The 34-year-old’s contract at Spurs is due to expire next summer and Conte has labelled the goalkeeper a ‘top’ player and someone who is ‘important’ to their cause, as he told Football London.
“Hugo is the captain of this team, captain of France, we’re talking about a top goalkeeper,” said Conte.
“He’s very focused now and he knows very well that now we’re trying to do our best.
“Me as a coach, Hugo as a goalkeeper and every player has to perform at high level, but for sure we’ll have time to speak about him and I consider him an important player for Tottenham, for his experience.
“He’s a good goalkeeper first of all and many years at this club he has showed always great commitment for this club.”

There is always this perception from those outside of Tottenham that Harry Kane is the captain of the club.
Well, it has been Lloris for a long while and he is one of the most respected and vocal members of the dressing room.
A World Cup winner with France, it seems as though the Spurs faithful are on board with him staying put.
If he does leave, then Conte will have to search for a new face or give current on-loan player, Pierluigi Gollini, a shot at first-team action if they opt to keep him at the club next season.
Given that the Italian is struggling for game time already and hasn’t exactly impressed when given the chance, then it says it all as to where he will be headed come the summer.
Of course, with Lloris’ contract, the big question will be how many more years to the club add on?
That’s always a big talking point, across the Premier League, with players that are over the age of 30.
But judging by Conte’s comments, he seemingly wants to keep him on board and sign on that dotted line.
And given that Conte will get what he seemingly wants at Spurs, then fans should probably expect Lloris to be donning their colours for a little while yet.
