Some Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to Antonio Conte’s comments on Oliver Skipp following the match against Brentford.

Conte was impressed by Skipp’s performance for Tottenham in their 2-0 win against Brentford at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League on Thursday evening.

The Spurs head coach raved about the 21-year-old midfielder, but he also outlined where the youngster needs to improve.

Antonio Conte comments on Oliver Skipp

Conte told Football.London about Skipp: “Very young. A lot of space for improvement. He played with a lot of heart and soul.

“For me he doesn’t care if he is 21-years-old. Today he played well but I think I can improve him a lot in possession technically, but we are talking about a very important prospect and I am happy for him and now we need to continue to improve him.”

The Spurs boss added: “This player, without the ball, he works very very hard. For sure, the part he has to improve is on the ball but in one month I have seen a lot of improvement about Skippy.

“He’s a player who wants to improve. The presentation and future depends on him. He can be a top midfielder, but he has to continue to work. He has this will and desire to become an important player.”

What are Tottenham Hotspur fans saying?

As you can see from the tweets below, Tottenham fans have been encouraged by Conte’s comments on Skipp.

Well, some of them anyway.

Skipp is just 21 and has played only a handful of matches in the Premier League for Tottenham so far in his career.

In our opinion, Skipp can and will get better under Conte.

That Conte decided to include the youngster in the starting lineup against Brentford shows just how much he rates him.

Skipp was arguably the best player on the pitch at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last night.

Well, for Spurs anyway.

The Tottenham no. 29 imposed himself in the middle of the park, made timely tackles and challenges, and created a wonderful chance for striker Harry Kane early in the second half.
