Sassuolo have slashed £8.5m off their asking price for Jeremie Boga as they look to sell the winger Everton and Leeds United reportedly wanted in the summer transfer window.

Boga has endured a frustrating period, with fitness issues keeping the 24-year-old from the Neroverdi’s recent Serie A fixtures. He has played just 20 minutes in their past eight games after starting each of their first seven under Alessio Dionisi.

The forward’s lack of action has made him a prime candidate to leave the Mapei Stadium in the winter sales, with clubs in England, France and Italy monitoring the Ivorian’s situation.

That’s according to Calciomercato.it, which claims Sassuolo have lowered their valuation of the Marseille-born dynamo to €20m (£17m) before add-ons.

Sassuolo can no longer afford to demand their full asking price as Boga’s contract expires in June 2023, even though Atalanta retain a strong interest. Shakhtar Donetsk also like him and boss Roberto De Zerbi greatly appreciates what the winger could offer his side.

Boga was one of the stars of the Sassuolo squad under De Zerbi between 2018 and his exit earlier this year. The forward made 86 Serie A outings, scoring 18 and assisting seven goals.

Everton and Leeds also admired Boga’s efforts for Sassuolo under De Zerbi, with both sides exploring a transfer in the summer. That’s per the Daily Mail, which cited the Premier League rivals and Crystal Palace as showing an interest in the former Chelsea prospect in July.

Should Everton or Leeds revive transfer interest in Sassuolo’s Boga?

Everton and Leeds may have baulked at a transfer for Boga at the time due to Sassuolo’s demands. Le10 Sport quoted a €30m (£25.5m) asking price, after the Neroverdi rejected two bids from their Serie A rivals Atalanta.

La Dea initially offered €19m (£16m) before returning with an improved €23m (£19.5m) bid. That’s a price Sassuolo may regret not accepting, with his value now falling below the fee.

Sassuolo’s latest stance could see Everton or Leeds revive their interest in Boga in the January transfer window. And while he has only played once since 2 October, he laid on three assists beforehand – including against title-holders Inter Milan to open the scoring.

Everton are still in the market for a new winger, too, per the Liverpool Echo. While Marcelo Bielsa may want greater depth to help Leeds secure their Premier League survival.
