Liverpool cruised to a comfortable victory over Southampton on Saturday to regain second in the Premier League, as Jordan Henderson’s efforts impressed some fans on social media.

The Reds have put defeat on the road to West Ham earlier this month firmly in their rear-view mirror. Claiming successive 4-0 wins over Arsenal and Southampton to move back above Manchester City and a point behind Chelsea, albeit having played one game more.

A first half-hour brace from Diogo Jota, before goals from Thiago Alcantara and Virgil van Dijk on either side of the break, dealt the damage for the Anfield natives over the Saints.

Henderson played a key role in Jota netting his brace and Liverpool’s second with a smart one-two with Mohamed Salah.

The Reds captain drifted up to the edge of the Saints box as Salah charged down the right-wing. Southampton left Henderson completely unchecked to offer the Egyptian an option he took up and when the Saints rushed to close him down, played Salah in behind.

Henderson teased the Southampton backline by looking up to cross to Sadio Mane or Jota before feeding Liverpool sensation Salah. Leaving the £200k-a-week winger free to advance and play the ball across the six-yard box for Jota to tap home.
