Alan Shearer has raved about Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips on Premier League Productions for his first-half performance against Tottenham Hotspur at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium tonight.
The Newcastle United legend believes that Phillips was “absolutely superb” for Leeds in the first half of the Premier League game.
Leeds were 1-0 up at half time.
Tottenham stepped up their game in the second period and won the match 2-1.

Shearer said on Premier League Productions (5:25pm, November 21, 2021): “They’ve been fantastic, the energy they’ve had, played on the front foot.
“Kalvin Phillips has been absolutely superb and hasn’t given Kane or Son a kick. He’s been first to every ball.
“I’ve been really impressed with Leeds considering the injuries they’ve had and how it’s been a struggle this season a lot of the time.”
How did Kalvin Phillips play?
Phillips is one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League and is a regular for England.
However, against Tottenham today, the 25-year-old started in central defence alongside Liam Cooper.
The Englishman was brilliant in the first half and kept the Tottenham attackers at bay.
However, Leeds found it tougher in the second period.
Tottenham piled on the pressure, and Leeds eventually conceded twice.
Phillips went into midfield in the second half and tried a long-range attempt.
The Leeds no. 23 took two shots and one was on target, had a pass accuracy of 83.9%, took 112 touches, and made four tackles and three interceptions.
