Antonio Conte looks set to miss out on Andre Onana to his former employers Inter Milan with Tuttosport claiming the Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur target has agreed a move to the reigning Serie A champions.

When Spurs brought Pierluigi Gollini to the Premier League in the summer, it was tempting to wonder whether the London giants had found their long-term solution between the sticks, someone capable of succeeding Hugo Lloris and cementing his place as the club’s number one for years to come.

Four months on, however, and things are less certain.

Was Gollini really a long-term solution or merely a short-term fix?

The former Aston Villa youngster has a £13 million option-to-buy clause in his contract but, given Gollini hasn’t played a single minute of Premier League football so far, it would be a surprise if either party was rushing to put pen to paper.

It remains to be seen how Conte feels about his compatriot but, given the Italy international has been left out of the new manager’s first two games in the Tottenham dugout, the early signs don’t look great.

Conte wants Andre Onana at Tottenham

Especially when you consider that, according to 90Min, Conte has asked managing director Fabio Paratici to look into a deal for Ajax’s Onana – someone he has admired from afar for some time.

Onana was linked with Inter Milan during Conte’s time at the San Siro – and it’s believed Italy will still be his destination.

Tuttosport claims a deal to bring the one-time Barcelona starlet to the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium is already sealed, with Onana – who will be a free agent in June – set to sign a £50,000-a-week deal until 2025.

The two-time Eredivisie winner has also been linked with Newcastle United, while Arsenal also held talks before landing Aaron Ramsdale from Sheffield United.
