Fabio Paratici has opened up on Tottenham’s decision to keep hold of Harry Kane this summer despite fierce interest from Manchester City.
Speaking to CalcioMercato, Paratici revealed that Tottenham are eager to rebuild the squad around Kane. The England international is one of the top players at the club, yet there was a real chance that the attacker could have left in the transfer window.
City were keen to sign Kane, moreover, according to Fabrizio Romano, the Manchester giants were eager to the British transfer record to secure the signature of the 28-year-old striker.
However, as we know, Daniel Levy dug in his heels and was able to keep hold of Kane. But, under Nuno Espirito Santo, the forward is yet to find his feet with the Portuguese manager. The England star is yet to score in the Premier League this season.
Indeed, the attacker’s form has dipped since the beginning of the 2021/22 campaign. Yet according to Paratici, Kane is at home with the north London club.
The Italian sporting director said: “Harry Kane loves Tottenham. We’ve decided to keep Harry last summer to start the rebuild, and we’re happy with our choice. There’s no need for any new talks with Harry. He knows how to share the sense of belonging to Spurs.”
Paratici comments on Kane could still result in January transfer

Kane departing Spurs this summer would have been a momentous transfer for the Premier League. But with a move not happening in the transfer window, it is unclear what will happen next for the Tottenham attacker.
City will no doubt be open to signing the striker in January. And if Kane’s form fails to pick up, there is a chance that Tottenham will cash in on their star attacker, whose contract expires in 2024.
