Diogo Jota says he is looking forward to playing alongside Roberto Firmino in a lethal front-four with Liverpool duo Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, via quotes by the Liverpool Echo.

Jota has currently edged ahead of Firmino in Jurgen Klopp’s plans at Anfield this season so far. The German has started Jota in six of the Reds’ seven Premier League fixtures and both Champions League group stage encounters, only resting him in the Carabao Cup to date.

Firmino, on the other hand, has only opened one top-flight fixture from five appearances and played 23-minutes in Europe. Although the Brazilian did score twice from the bench at Porto, and once against Norwich on the opening day.

Jota’s performances between Mane and Salah in Liverpool’s attack have been enough for Klopp to overlook Firmino so far. But the Portuguese hopes the quartet can play together at some stage, as they have the potential to be lethal.

“They are world-class players, and I am very happy to be able to play with them and to get results with them,” Jota said. “I feel like we are still developing our connections on the field, and I think we can improve on that.

“But that obviously develops with game time and facing different opponents together. But hopefully, along with Bobby Firmino, as a front-four we can get a lot of goals this season if we do the right things.”

Are Liverpool duo Mane and Salah world-class, like Jota claims?

Firmino may struggle to work his way into the Liverpool side with Jota scoring three goals in the Premier League. Mane and Salah are also thriving on the wings so far this season.

The Brazilian may have to feature as an attacking midfielder behind Jota for the quartet to play together, then. Firmino has occupied the role previously, and did not boast the goal record last term to warrant staying at striker. Netting nine in 48 games in all competitions.

Salah, meanwhile, is showing his ‘world-class’ ability to earn rave reviews from pundits and players alike. The Egyptian has scored nine goals in nine games already this term, including five in his last five league appearances. As for Mane, the Senegal winger has struck five in nine outings, to show his superstar ability.
