Arsenal prospect Folarin Balogun has been nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award.
The top youth division in England posted to their official Twitter account that the England U-21 star made it to the seven-man shortlist for the month of September.
Balogun has been on a tear in PL2 in recent weeks for Arsenal. The 20-year-old scored four goals and bagged an assist as Kevin Betsy’s side didn’t lose a single game in September.
The youngster followed up this impressive September form with an outrageous performance against Brighton and Hove Albion, where Balogun scored another two goals.
The attacker is in red hot form and is making PL2 football look like child play. However, Balogun has only managed three first-team appearances this season, with Arsenal stacked with centre-forwards.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has returned to his natural striker position in Mikel Arteta’s new look XI. Moreover, Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah remain on Arsenal’s books.
Arsenal fans react as Balogun makes PL2 shortlist
Indeed, it is likely that a loan move will be on the cards for Balogun, especially if the Arsenal striker continues this impressive level of form at PL2 level until the January window.
Supporters on social media have been left impressed by Balogun’s form, and here’s what some Arsenal fans had to say on Twitter about the striker making the seven-man shortlist for the PL2 Player of the Month award…
