Barcelona have taken a big step towards signing Alberto Moleiro, according to Marca, with Wolves facing a battle to sign a player labelled the second coming of Pedri.
Las Palmas coach Pepe Mel knew from the moment he laid eyes on the little 16-year-old that Pedri was something special.
“Everything he does with the ball, he understands the placement and how to make things easier for his teammates,” the one-time West Brom coach beamed when discussing his teen sensation in 2019.
“He’s able to find that pass between lines that takes out opponents. Pedri can play in any of the midfield two positions, although you have to take into account he feels more comfortable on the left – a bit like Andres Iniesta.
“Pedri is very similar to Iniesta, in fact.”
During a fabulous debut season at Barcelona, and at Euro 2020, Pedri stepped out of Iniesta’s shadow in spectacular fashion.
No-one is calling him the ‘new’ anything these days, he’s simply Pedri, a brilliant central midfield player in his own right.

But if Las Palmas supporters thought a player like Pedri would only come around once in a generation, they were wrong. In 17-year-old Alberto Moleiro, the Segunda outfit has another diminutive, string-pulling 17-year-old starring in yellow and blue.
He plays like Pedri and he looks like him too, right down to the short-back-and-sides haircut.
And, unsurprisingly, it hasn’t taken long for Barcelona to take notice.
Have Wolves got a chance now Barcelona are eyeing Alberto Moleiro?
Moleiro was linked with a move to the Premier League and Wolverhampton Wanderers by La Provincia recently.
Barca have taken things one step further, though, sending a scout to watch Moleiro in action during Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Ponferradina.
They will have been mightily impressed too by the way Moleiro dictated proceedings from the left-hand side with a maturity and confidence that belies his tender years.
Sounds familiar doesn’t it, Barcelona fans?
