Some Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to the performance of Saul Niguez for Chelsea against Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge this evening.
What’s the story?
Saul, linked with a move to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in the summer transfer window, made his debut for Chelsea in the Premier League game against Villa in London.
The midfielder started the match, but Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel decided to take him off at half time and brought on Jorginho.
What are Liverpool fans saying?
As you can see from the tweets below, Liverpool fans were not impressed by Saul this evening and are pleased that the midfielder did not end up at Anfield.
Well, some of them anyway.
The Spain international joined Chelsea from Atletico Madrid on a loan deal on summer transfer deadline day.
Mundo Deportivo reported back in July that Liverpool had made a bid to Atletico for Saul.
Atletico had turned it down, as we covered here on HITC Sport.
Last month, some Liverpool fans were really annoyed that the club could not sign Saul.
Saul had a really disappointing debut for Chelsea.
The midfielder had a pass accuracy of 83.8%, won one header, took 44 touches, and made one clearance.
However, we must not judge a player based on just 45 minutes.
