Tottenham Hotspur have made their first offer for Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore – but it has been swiftly rejected.
That’s according to The Times, who claim that Wolves aren’t exactly happy with the offer Tottenham put on the table.
Tottenham offered a £5million loan with the option of a permanent deal in 2022, which Wolves have thrown out swiftly.
Wolves want a guaranteed sale. That means either straight cash now, or a loan with an obligation to purchase Traore next summer.
Traore has two years left on his contract and so far hasn’t given an indication that he will sign a new one, hence Wolves being open to a deal.
They may well know that, if Traore gets into the final year of his contract, the fee they would receive in any deal would be much lower.

A loan with a guaranteed fee upwards of £35million may therefore be appealing to Wolves, even if fans can’t believe the notion is even being entertained.
Nuno Espirito Santo worked with Traore at Wolves and now wants a reunion, which could see Son Heung-min converted to play as a striker full-time.
Nuno called Traore ‘unique’ having seen him cause absolute mayhem for his Tottenham side on Sunday afternoon, raving about the Spaniard.
With just a week of the transfer window to go, Tottenham are seemingly pushing to get Traore on board, but they will have to come up with a much better offer to get their man.
