Hibs striker Kevin Nisbet has been linked with moves to both sides of the Old Firm since before he was even at Easter Road but amid new links with a move to Celtic, Rangers must consider a swoop for the Scotland international.

Nisbet was reportedly target of a cash-plus-player deal involving Celtic’s Leigh Griffiths, described by Hibs boss Jack Ross as ‘nonsense’ and it seems inevitable that Nisbet will leave Easter Road sooner rather than later.
Speaking ahead of his side’s draw with Dundee yesterday, Ross dismissed the reports but after accepting a bid for Nisbet earlier this year, it is clear Hibs are willing to do business at the right price.
“I was surprised to hear about it yesterday, because unless people at the club aren’t telling me things – which I don’t imagine is the case – then it’s nonsense, really,” Ross said [Scottish Sun].
“It just shows how something can be created and people can run with it.
“As far as we’re concerned there’s absolutely no truth in it.”
While Rangers aren’t exactly short of options in attack, the signing of Nisbet would open up a few different possibilities for Rangers.
The Hibs star has shown he’s more than capable of performing at a higher level and has been one of the most consistent players at Easter Road over the last year.
The fact he would count as a homegrown player in the Gers’ European squad would allow the Gers to register him without the need to axe someone from the current list – as well as possibly opening the door for Cedric Itten to head out in search of regular football.
Whether Hibs would be willing to do a deal that would suit both sides is anyone’s guess just now but the chance to head to Rangers and challenge for trophies consistently is one that would no doubt appeal to Nisbet.

Ongoing speculation over the future of Alfredo Morelos could also see Rangers in the market for a new centre-forward at short notice and, while Nisbet isn’t in the same category as El Bufalo, he has more than enough in his locker to be a strong addition to the Rangers squad.
