Speculation is rife that Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Adama Traore from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
AS in Spain reported earlier this week that Spurs were weighing up a £34 million bid.
It’s no secret that there’s a connection, with Nuno Espirito Santo having signed the player for Wolves back in 2018.
But going by his performance today, Adama won’t be joining Tottenham.
Failed audition
With the North Londoners visiting Molineux today, it was the perfect audition for the 25-year-old to dazzle his former manager.
But ultimately, he failed.
It’s true that Adama looked to be having a good game, but appearances can be deceptive.
Yes, he tormented a lot of Tottenham players with his speed and power – namely Japhet Tanganga – but the Spain international’s capacity to be a pest has never been questioned.
What is in question is whether he has end product and after spurning a number of good goalscoring chances for Wolves – who lost 1-0 – it’s fair to say that the Lilywhites won’t have learned anything new about the player they reportedly want to sign.
Adama is a very good footballer, but decision making and execution are just as vital as pace and strength, and it’s those first two qualities which will forever hold him back.
