Arsenal have moved one step closer to signing Aaron Ramsdale.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move to sign the Sheffield United goalkeeper in recent weeks.

Football London reported on Tuesday that talks had resumed between Arsenal and the Blades after a previous breakdown in negotiations.

And Sky Sports last night claimed that the North Londoners have agreed a £24 million deal with the Championship side.

The report adds that the Yorkshire outfit will receive an additional £6 million if certain milestones are reached, including whether Ramsdale displaces Bernd Leno as Mikel Arteta’s number one.

Imminent

It seems a matter of when and not ‘if’ anymore.

The 23-year-old was left out of Sheffield United’s squad last night in what is a major indication that the wheels are very much in motion for him to join Arsenal.

For the Emirates Stadium side, some fans might be disappointed.

Talks broke down earlier this month over the £30 million asking price and the fact that the overall deal is still going to total around that figure means that Arteta and Edu have wasted about a week of the transfer window.

And when there’s only two weeks left, that’s a luxury that Arsenal didn’t really have.
