Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a boost as it appears Atletico Madrid need to sell players before they can afford to sign Fiorentina star Dusan Vlahovic, according to AS.
What’s the story?
The report from AS claims the La Liga champions had agreed a £60 million fee to sign the 21-year-old striker. However, their move for the youngster could be in serious doubt.
According to the Spanish publication, the club must sell several players to fund a move. However, Atletico could receive a financial boost themselves through La Liga’s investment deal with private equity firm CVC.
Nevertheless, the news could open a door for Tottenham, who are also keen on the 21-goal centre-forward.
Recent reports claim Spurs are waiting for an answer in their bid to buy Vlahovic and Fiorentina teammate Nikola Milenkovic.

Tottenham should make the most as Atletico falter in Vlahovic race
Tottenham should make the most of this boost as Atletico falter in the race for Vlahovic.
Signing the 21-year-old would be a stroke of genius by Fabio Paratici. The Serbia international was a stand-out figure in Serie A last season, scoring 21 goals, the fourth-highest tally in the division.
And with Harry Kane’s future uncertain, he would prove a fantastic replacement.
The question is, do Spurs have the funds required to match Atletico’s £60 million bid?
After spending large on Cristian Romero, the answer appears to be no.
However, a window of opportunity has blown open for Spurs should they choose to make the most of it.
