It’s a good thing Arsenal look set to sign Aaron Ramsdale, because Neto reportedly has no interest in a move.

When talks collapsed with Sheffield United over Ramsdale last week, it was reported by The Guardian that the Barcelona goalkeeper was now a viable target on loan.

The Athletic confirmed that story on Tuesday and claimed that Arsenal considered him an alternative to the English stopper.

But the report also added that Neto – a £30 million signing by Barca in 2019 – is not interested in a move to the Emirates Stadium because he doesn’t want to be behind Bernd Leno in the pecking order.

Attack the best defence

Arsenal need to wrap up Ramsdale as soon as possible.

To spend most of the summer trying to sign a goalkeeper when it isn’t even an urgent position to strengthen is just madness.

Mikel Arteta’s side had a brilliant defensive record last season, even if Leno, a £22 million signing under Unai Emery three years ago, had a few dodgy performances.

But the North Londoners’ priority simply has to be attacking players because after losing 2-0 to Brentford on the first day of the season, that’s where the major issues lie in Arteta’s first XI.
