Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic is ‘the one’ for Tottenham Hotspur as they pursue a new goalscorer before the transfer deadline.

That’s according to Alasdair Gold, who claimed on the Gold and Guest talk Tottenham podcast that Vlahovic is Tottenham’s top striking target.

Gold claims Atletico Madrid ‘really want’ Vlahovic though, and Tottenham don’t tend to do bidding wars, so Fabio Paratici will have a tough task landing his man.

“I understand that Vlahovic is the one now, but it’s Tottenham so there’s always a caveat and the problem is that Atletico Madrid really want him as well,” said Gold.

“As we always have said in the past, Tottenham don’t really do bidding wars. It’s probably going to be a case of having to convince the player that Spurs are the best option for him. A key part of that will be saying that if Harry Kane is going to play you’re going to play alongside him,” he added.

Reports in Italy earlier this week suggested that Tottenham were waiting for a final answer from Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso on their move for Vlahovic.

Gianluca Di Marzio then added that Fiorentina’s talks over a new contract for Vlahovic have stalled ahead of a potential exit.

The Serbian hitman scored 21 goals last season and looks set for a huge future, with Tottenham eyeing him up to – allegedly, at least – play him up front with Harry Kane.

Inter Milan star Lautaro Martinez has been heavily linked too, but with Gold claiming that Vlahovic is ‘the one’, it looks like Vlahovic has pushed himself ahead of Martinez.
