Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic is “ready” to join a club like Tottenham Hotspur, former Juventus and Italy ace Alessio Tacchinardi has told Tuttomercatoweb.

Perhaps the biggest compliment that can be paid to Serbian centre-forward Vlahovic is that, when asking fans and pundits alike to name the most exciting young striker in European football, Erling Haaland is no longer the only answer.

An emphatic, inventive finisher and supremely self-confident – he labelled himself the ‘new Zlatan Ibrahimovic’ after all – Vlahovic scored 21 times during his breakthrough season in 2020/21.

Not quite as prolific as Haaland, then, but it’s worth mentioning Vlahovic is not plying his trade for a Borussia Dortmund side boasting some of the game’s finest creative minds.

If it wasn’t for Vlahovic, there’s no guarantee a middling, underperforming Fiorentina would even be a Serie A club right now.

Dusan Vlahovic could join Tottenham Hotspur for £50m-plus

With contract talks stalling at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, Sky Italia claims Tottenham are weighing up a bid for striker who, elegant and efficient in equal measure, shares a lot in common with a young Harry Kane.

“He must be signed now,” six-time Serie A winner Tacchinardi says of a man already rumoured to be valued in excess of £50 million.

“Next year, he could end up producing monstrous numbers like Haaland. He is ready for Tottenham.

“Now he is a diamond in the rough but he can grow a lot. He is a beast. For those who can afford him, I say that it is the right time to sign him.”

According to Football London, Nuno Espirito Santo has given Vlahovic’s signing his blessing as sporting director Fabio Paratici looks to win the Europe-wide tug-of-war for the striker’s signature.

It remains to be seen, however, whether Vlahovic’s future is tied to that of Harry Kane, the want-away England captain who looks set for an awkward return to north London, tail tucked firmly between his legs.
