Arsenal are pushing to sign Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale – and Slavisa Jokanovic has been talking about the situation today.
The Gunners already have a first-choice goalkeeper in Bernd Leno, but they have been seeking a new backup stopper this summer.
Mat Ryan’s loan move has ended and Runar Runarsson just isn’t good enough, so Edu is now heading into the market for another goalkeeper.
Fans have been left surprised by just how much Arsenal seem to want Ramsdale, who has suffered successive Premier League relegations with Bournemouth and Sheffield United.
The 23-year-old is considering a transfer request to force a £30million move according to The Mirror, with Arsenal not giving up.
Now, Blades boss Jokanovic has told Yorkshire Live that he doesn’t know if Ramsdale is leaving, but admitted that Arsenal are the main club pursuing his signature.
Jokanovic added that Ramsdale wants to be a Premier League player and feels the Arsenal opportunity is a good one for him, so all the signs point towards a deal happening.

Jokanovic did though call on Arsenal to ‘spend a lot of money’ if they really want Ramsdale, and certainly won’t be disappointed if the deal doesn’t go through.
“I don’t know. If you ask me if I want him to leave, then no. He’s a Sheffield United player now and it will depend on the club, our club and also Arsenal too. They are the principal club pushing for him. In this moment there is no change, we will see what happens in the future.”
“Naturally he wants to be a PL player. I am talking with him, he believes it can be a good move for himself but it is not a bad thing for him if he stays with us. He is a talented English player and I understand Arsenal are interested, but this is the business. If he is one of the best players in the league his price is high and it’s up to Arsenal if they want him they need to spend a lot of money. Aaron doesn’t have my permission to leave but I understand the situation,” he added.
